100 years ago, Chan Kim Hock, a Chinese boy, delivered a speech in English, which was recorded by a camera. In this precious video, he explained the meaning of his name in English. He then introduced his sister. He tried to eliminate some stereotypes about the Chinese. “We don't eat rats and mice,” Chan said confidently in front of the camera, “we like candies, cakes, and ice-cream, just like other kids.”
