Exclusive | Data Technology Hub launched to seed re-industrialization in HK

"We combine data and our AI algorithm, with advanced manufacturing to turn conventional materials into sound-absorbing metamaterials." Dr. Shuyu Chen, Director of LUMI Technology, who is also a faithful supporter of "Made in Hong Kong" and "Re-industrialize Hong Kong", is among the first batch of tenants of the newly launched Data Technology Hub (DT Hub) and the Advanced Manufacturing Center that is to be completed next year.

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP) launched the DT Hub on Thursday (Jan. 28), with the vision of accelerating HK's development of the data economy, and diversifying the city's economy through digital transformation.

Dr. Chen told DotDotNews that he firmly believes if HK can identify some key technical directions, and allocate resources to build up a wholesome ecosystem, then the city is capable of leading the global re-industrialization.

DT Hub is strategically situated in the HKSTP-operated Tseung Kwan O industrial estate, which is home to a cluster of HK's most advanced data centers supported by state-of-the-art data infrastructure. This means companies here can connect and collaborate with existing world-class operators in cloud computing, hosting services, telecoms, internet services, 5G and IoT. While the Advanced Manufacturing Center, adjacent to DT Hub, offers a high-spec fully-serviced production base for advanced manufacturing.

推動香港「再工業化」 科技園數據技術中心開幕

「我們將數據和人工智能算法與先進製造技術互相結合，將傳統材料製成可吸收噪聲的超材料。」陳書宇博士所在的盧米科技公司，是香港科技園數據技術中心（DT Hub）的首批租戶，他說：「期待進駐DT Hub後，它和AMC（先進製造業中心）提供的服務，能夠協助加速商品化，將數碼模型製作成原型和投放市場的產品。」

香港科技園旗下的數據技術中心（DT Hub）28日正式開幕，毗鄰DT Hub的先進製造業中心（AMC）也計劃於明年開幕，旨在促進本地創新、本土設計及香港製造。

數據技術中心位於將軍澳工業邨。由於此處雲集全港最先進的數據中心及頂尖數據基礎設施，這一地理優勢將幫助進駐企業與技術供應商對接，使用全球領先的雲技術、託管服務、電訊、互聯網服務、5G 和物聯網服務。

陳博士在接受點新聞DotDotNews採訪時表示，他堅信香港憑其優良的技術基礎，只要找準關鍵技術方向，並為之投入資源，打造生態系統，香港科創完全有能力引領全球「再工業化」的發展。
