Chinese dumplings were originally used to treat frostbitten ears. When Zhang returned to his hometown during wintertime, he found many ordinary people had frostbitten ears. Then he boiled these dumplings and gave them to his patients. After that, people started to imitate Zhang's recipe to make dumplings to recover from frostbitten ears.
