The Hong Kong government has started subsidizing HK residents living in Guangdong Province to attend follow-up consultations at the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital (HKU Shenzhen Hospital) since Wednesday ( Nov. 18).
HKU Shenzhen Hospital director Lo Chung Mau said today (Nov. 19) that 3,400 people have applied for follow-up consultations, but the incomplete records of outpatient consultations in the hospital have made it more difficult for them to receive treatment.
Lo said that the electronic records' lack of information has caused them to spend more time arranging for patients to go to the right specialist.
Eligible HK residents are required to pay RMB 100 for a consultation at HKU Shenzhen Hospital, with the government subsidizing the rest of the fee, up to a maximum of RMB 2,000 per person. Lo said the subsidy would be enough for five to six visits to the hospital, based on the average consultation fee of RMB 430.
