The Hong Kong Museum of Art has shown works of Renaissance artist Botticelli since Oct. 23 to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the People's Republic of China and Italy.
Jointly organized by the museum and Italy's Uffizi Galleries, the exhibition will celebrate the cultural exchange between the two countries and offer the public in HK an opportunity to explore the art and culture of the Renaissance during the 15th and 16th centuries.
As a world-famous art museum with a long history, the Uffizi Galleries houses a massive collection of important works from the Renaissance.
Through the display of 42 precious works from the Uffizi Galleries, the exhibition presents the humanist ideals pursued by artists at the time, as reflected in their portraits and religious paintings.
