The 2020 G20 Leaders' Summit will be held virtually from Nov. 21 to Nov. 22, according to the statement from Saudi Arabia's G20 presidency early Monday (Sept. 28). The summit will be chaired by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, focusing on addressing the challenges of the COVID-19 epidemic, protecting lives, restoring economic growth and laying down the foundations for a better future under the theme of "Realizing Opportunities of the 21st Century for All".
According to the statement, since the outbreak of the epidemic, G20, the world's premier platform for international economic cooperation, has spent over US$21 billion to support medical treatment and vaccine production, injected another US$11 trillion to protect the global economy, and allowed developing countries to postpone repayments of US$14 billion due this year.
The statement said the Saudi G20 presidency would "build on the success of the extraordinary virtual G20 Leaders' Summit held in March and on the outcomes of over 100 virtual working groups and ministerial meetings."
