Chinese researchers reveals the world's first detailed structure of coronavirus
The research group of Zhejiang University and Tsinghua University in China recently jointly revealed the world's first analysis of the detailed three-dimensional structure of a real coronavirus, which is of great significance for an in-depth understanding of the biological characteristics of COVID-19 and the development of antiviral drugs.
According to the Zhejiang University researchers, the high-resolution CT scans of 2,294 particles have revealed the composition and distribution of surface proteins of coronavirus, resulting in an unprecedented resolution of its fine structure.
Besides, the researchers also discovered the structure of the virus and its assembly mechanism, revealing the critical reason why the coronavirus can survive for a long time in the human body's external environment.
The research results were published in collaboration with a number of outstanding Chinese academics.
