OMG | Sculpture art: China's giant baby

A 15-meter long, 4.3-meter high, 9-meter wide giant baby sculpture, “son of the earth”, "sleeping" peacefully on the ground, was created by Dong Shubin, director for Sculpture Department of Academy of Art and Design, Tsinghua University.

“Son of the earth”, the Gobi Desert in Gansu Province, Guazhou County, has become a spectacular desert landscape. After researching the current global large-scale sculptures and experimenting with the materials available in China, the artist selected red sandstone as the main material and used 3D scanning to obtain model data, then carved each part in 3D sculpting, and finally installed the sculpture piece by piece.
