The City University of Hong Kong (CityU) stays at 126th, while the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) jumps 42 places to rank 129th.
The University of Oxford (UK) is ranked first for the fifth consecutive year, while Stanford University (US) rises two places to rank second.
Tsinghua University (China) rises 3 places to rank 20th, maintaining its position as Asia's No. 1 university and the first Asian university to enter the top 20. Peking University and the National University of Singapore are ranked 23rd and 25th respectively to become Asia's second and third largest universities.
In the report, Times Higher Education pointed out that this year's high scores for citation impact and research income from the top universities in China may reflect the Chinese government's continued investment in higher education. Mainland Chinese universities continue to perform well in research and teaching indicators compared to their top 200 competitors, but they still lag in internationalization.
