Hong Kong government announced on Aug.21 that the Heung Yuen Wai (HYW) Boundary Control Point will be commissioned on Aug.26. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the BCP will firstly open the cargo clearance facilities for use by cross-boundary goods vehicles.
The opening ceremony for the new BCP will be held at Liantang Port in Shenzhen on the morning of Aug.26, while the cargo clearance facilities will open for cross-boundary goods vehicles from 4 p.m. that day.
The Liantang Port/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point is the seventh land-based control point at the Hong Kong-Shenzhen boundary. The HYW BCP in Hong Kong is connected to the Heung Yuen Wai Highway, while the Liantang Port is connected to the Shenzhen Eastern Corridor. The commissioning of the new BCP will shorten the traveling time between Hong Kong, the eastern part of Shenzhen and eastern Guangdong, and can relieve the existing cross-boundary freight traffic.
