Hengqin Port achieved a record-breaking year in 2024, with over 22.8 million boundary crossings and 2.4 million vehicle trips, marking year-on-year growth of 36% and 24%, respectively. Both passenger and vehicle traffic have reached historic highs since the port's establishment.
Since March 2024, the port has implemented simplified inspection procedures, reducing average vehicle clearance time to just 100 seconds, resulting in a 40% increase in overall efficiency. Statistics reveal that Macao-registered single-license plate vehicles accounted for over 1.58 million crossings, making up 66% of the total vehicle traffic for the year.
The National Immigration Administration introduced several policies in 2024 to streamline boundary crossings and facilitate businesses and travelers. This led to Hengqin Port setting five single-day passenger traffic records, with the highest daily flow exceeding 103,000 people.
On Jan. 1, 2025, the "multiple-entry" policy for Hengqin residents traveling to Macao officially came into effect. Approximately 50,000 eligible residents, including those with Hengqin household registrations and residence permits, can now enjoy this convenience. The new policy is expected to further boost Hengqin Port's passenger traffic in 2025.
