According to an announcement by China's National Immigration Administration on Jan. 2, 2025, the country handled a total of 1.803 million inbound and outbound travelers during the New Year holiday. This represents a 13.7% year-on-year increase compared to the same period in the last year.
Among the total, mainland residents accounted for 869,000 crossings, reflecting an 11.1% growth from last year. Notably, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents constituted 749,000 crossings, a 12.8% rise, making up over 40% of total travelers. Meanwhile, foreign nationals recorded 185,000 crossings, a significant 33.6% increase compared to last year.
China's border control authorities also processed 67,000 transportation vehicles, including airplanes, ships, trains, and cars, reflecting a 14.7% annual growth.
