According to Reuters, two persons revealed that Donald Trump will ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Dec. 12 and will be named 2024 Person of the Year by Time magazine's on the same day. But a spokesperson for Time magazine declined to comment on the issue.
Ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange signifies the start or end of a trading day, which is considered an honor. Although it has traditionally been rang by corporate executives to celebrate initial public offerings or other significant milestones, it has also been rung by celebrities such as former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, politician Nelson Mandela, and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Time magazine named Trump Person of the Year in 2016. Current U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were named Persons of the Year in 2020 after defeating Trump. Last year, pop superstar Taylor Swift also received the title.
