Relevant authorities and departments have been implementing various measures to encourage employers to adopt good human resources management and family-friendly employment practices in the light of the business situation and the needs of their employees, Secretary for Labor and Welfare Chris Sun said at a Legislative Council meeting today (June 19).
"These include flexible working hours to facilitate employees to take care of their families and raise children, and flexible work arrangements according to family needs."
Sun noted that the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau had all along been supporting the work of the Family Council in publicizing the family-friendly culture among the general public, and was committed to promoting diversified and flexible family-friendly employment practices in the community.
He added that "flexibility" was the key to building a family-friendly working environment and culture, taking into account the circumstances of different enterprises and employees.
"The word 'flexibility' refers to the establishment of flexible arrangements that take into account the specific circumstances of each enterprise, the relationship between the enterprise, the employer and the employees, as well as the communication between the two parties," he said, "flexible arrangements may not necessarily remain unchanged but are often appropriately adjusted in response to changes in the times and society.
