On Thursday (Oct. 19), Chief Executive John Lee announced that he would schedule more international travel in order to create more business opportunities for Hong Kong.
Lee led a 70-strong delegation to attend the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, which he said yielded fruitful exchanges with foreign business leaders.
As he concluded his visit, the CE informed the media that he planned to travel to Europe, a significant market and trading partner for the SAR.
"Visiting other countries or regions will create more business opportunities for HK and help showcase its advantages to other places," he said.
"It is very important to achieve mutual benefits so that I will continue my visits. ASEAN countries are my priority, but I also have plans to visit Middle East countries or European countries," he added.
Lee also said signing three contracts during the forum was just an example of the many opportunities brought by the initiative, adding that HK has a lot to bring to the table.
"HK is very strong on professional services. We have lawyers, architects, and accountants who are of international standard. They are experienced in providing expert services to support financing, construction, and green economic development. So the opportunities are multi-faceted," according to Lee.
Three contracts worth more than US$450 million on medical, investment, and technical cooperation involving Hong Kong enterprises were signed during the two-day forum.
