More than 140,000 travelers arrived in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Monday as the boundary between HK and mainland China fully reopened.

According to the website of the HKSAR Immigration Department, the city logged 142,086 arrivals while 142,105 departures were recorded. The arrivals included 108,899 HK residents, 23,587 mainland visitors, and 9,600 other visitors. The departures involved 111,274 HK residents, 21,880 mainland visitors and 8,951 other visitors.

The SAR and the mainland resumed full cross-boundary travel on Monday for the first time in three years, with daily cross-boundary travel quotas and COVID-19 testing requirements dropped and all the checkpoints reopened. Vaccine requirements for overseas arrivals have also been lifted.

At the Lo Wu control point, 30,319 arrivals were recorded, including 26,392 HK residents, 3,865 mainland visitors, and 62 other visitors. The checkpoint had 33,656 departures involving 29,686 HK residents, 3,828 mainland visitors, and 142 other visitors.

The HK International Airport had 28,508 arrivals that included 17,408 HK residents, 4,946 mainland visitors, and 6,154 other arrivals. It also recorded 14,145 HK residents, 3,686 mainland visitors, and 4,586 other visitors leaving the SAR.

At the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, 25,813 arrivals were recorded including 21,464 HK residents, 4,269 mainland visitors, and 80 other visitors. The checkpoint had 27,886 departures involving 23,312 HK residents, 4,419 mainland visitors, and 155 other visitors.

The control point at the HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge had 16,909 arrivals, which comprised 13,709 HK residents, 1,087 mainland visitors, and 2,133 other visitors. There were also 15,795 departures that involved 12,584 Hong Kong residents, 901 mainland visitors, and 2,310 other visitors.

At the Shenzhen Bay immigration control point, 14,386 arrivals were reported. They comprised 10,622 HK residents, 3,605 mainland visitors, and 159 other visitors. The checkpoint logged 15,367 departures that included 11,203 HK residents, 3,640 mainland visitors, and 524 other visitors.

According to the immigration website, the Macau Ferry Terminal had 5,414 arrivals and 5,475 departures, Man Kam To had 1,525 arrivals and 1,301 departures, while the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui had 805 arrivals and 842 departures.
