Watch This | Yearender: A retrospect of HK's 2022

In 2022, the world was still under the shadow of the COVID pandemic. The fifth wave of the epidemic broke out in Hong Kong at the beginning of the year, with tens of thousands of cases confirmed in a single day, and panic spread throughout the community. Fortunately, the Central Government provided support to help HK pull through the most difficult time during the epidemic.

On July 1 this year, President Xi Jinping visited Hong Kong and gave a shot in the arm to the development of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong. The first Chief Executive election under the improved electoral system was held smoothly, and Mr. John Lee Ka-chiu was elected as the sixth Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, leading the new administration to open a brand new chapter. In addition, the opening of the Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit and the return of the Rugby Sevens to Hong Kong, among other events, are a testament to HK's return to the world stage. As 2022 draws to a close, the Central Authorities have agreed on the resumption of normal travel between HK and the Mainland on January 8, 2023. The city has also lifted all its anti-virus restrictions, except the mask mandate, signaling that HK has fully returned to normalcy.

Let's watch the video now to take a look back at 2022 in HK before we embark on the new journey.
