Delicious USA 2022: A perfect pairing of top US ingredients and HK culinary excellence

Delicious USA, Hong Kong’s premier festival for U.S. food, returns to local restaurants from September 16 to October 16, 2022. The month-long festival celebrates the sustainability, versatility, and quality-assured food products that distinguish American farms, ranches, and fishing waters.

Highlighting the versatility of the U.S. harvest, this year, Delicious USA welcomes an impressive 12 new participating restaurants among a grand total of 31 restaurants. Restaurant chefs will present one or more special dishes featuring U.S. ingredients for diners to enjoy. The rich diversity of cuisines underscores the variety and adaptability of sustainably produced premium U.S. ingredients. In its fourth year, the festival presents additional value for money through a collaboration with one-stop dining platform OpenRice.

Delicious USA is organized annually by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) in Hong Kong. The festival is now a staple on the calendars of the city’s foodies, who can savor the wide range of top-quality ingredients offered by one of the world’s leading sustainable food producers. A perfect pairing of top U.S. ingredients – including meat, seafood, dairy, seafood, fruit, nuts, and wines – and the imagination of Hong Kong’s talented chefs are sure to take Hongkongers on a culinary journey full of inventive twists.

The fruits of the land and waters of the United States already enrich the dishes of hundreds of restaurants in Hong Kong, way beyond those specializing in American food. The 34 establishments participating this year span Spanish (El Cerdo, La Paloma, Quiero Más, The Bayside) and Italian (Acquasala) as well as Indian (Gaylord), Thai (Namo Avant Thai Restaurant), and Asian Fusion (AnOther Place, Bingaz Street Food) cuisine. Harbourside Grill, Morton’s of Chicago, The Den, and The Meat Co. proffer that great American favorite of steak, while Lobster Shack and Oyster & Wine Bar present superb U.S. seafood.

Restaurants honoring American cuisine include Chubby Papa’s Deli, Dan Ryan's Chicago Grill, Inn Side Out, Smoke & Barrel, and Westwood Carvery; Cadillac Bar & Grill specializes in Californian-Mexican dishes; Te Quiero Mucho is Mexican; Kelly’s Cape Bop is Korean. The Grill at the Grand Hyatt, Sky Lounge, The Café at the Sheraton, neighborhood eateries Blend & Grind, Orka Restaurant & Specialty Café, and Pete’s Place serves Western or International fare. Veda and Treehouse, meanwhile, source U.S. vegetables and nuts for their innovative vegetarian dishes.

The anticipated arrival of Delicious USA 2022 was launched at a reception on August 31, 2022, in the presence of Acting U.S. Consul General Colin Crosby. Representatives of the media that joined Acting Consul General Crosby at Quiero Más (restaurant name meaning I want more!) in Central were invited to taste various enticing creations featuring truly delicious and sustainable U.S. ingredients showcased during the festival.
