Toughest social distancing rules take effect
Starting from Thursday, the toughest social-distancing rules have come into effect, including a two-person cap on public gatherings, and the closure of hair salons and places of worship. The measures will remain in force until the rollout on Feb 24 of a “vaccine-pass” program allowing only vaccinated visitors to enter certain premises. At the same time, gatherings of more than two families in private places are also be banned.
Children aged 5 to 11 can book for BioNTech jab
Starting from Wednesday, parents of children aged 5 to 11 can make online appointments for their children to receive the BioNTech vaccine. Experts recommend a 12-week interval between the first and second doses for children.
Real-name registration for SIM cards to commence on March 1
Hong Kong residents will need to complete real-name registration for their SIM cards starting from March 1. New SIM cards issued from this date onwards will need to complete real-name registration before activation. Existing pre-paid SIM card users are required to complete registration with telecommunications operators on or before February 23, 2023.
Hong Kong's property sales plunge 16.5% in January
