After Hong Kong's national security law came into effect, a large number of anti-China rioters fled to the U.K. and continue to advocate "HK independence." Wang, the girl who was attacked, told a DotDotNews reporter that she received phone calls from the Chinese Embassy in the UK, the Consulate General of China in Manchester, Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) UK, CSSA Manchester, and other organizations on Tuesday (Jan. 11).

She said, "I feel very touched and grateful. With the support of so many compatriots and my motherland, I am very much relieved!"

This past weekend, at around 4 p.m. local time on Sunday (Jan. 9), a group of HK fugitives staged another "HK independence" rally in Manchester. During the incident, Wang stood up against the separatists with clear and forceful arguments but was violently attacked by the disruptors.

After the incident, the girl reported to local police but was slandered by the rioters, while other workers of the shop where she works were doxxed and sent death threats.

According to Wang, the consulate staff said they would negotiate with local police, hoping to put some pressure on them to arrest the perpetrators as soon as possible. The Chinese Embassy in the UK also offers to help whenever needed, she added.

"I was feeling quite uncomfortable and panicked before, but now I suddenly feel relieved," she said.
