Hong Kong on Thursday (Dec. 2) reported six new COVID-19 cases, all involving the L452R mutant strain.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) today said it is investigating six additional COVID-19 cases, all of which are imported.

The new cases involve five men and one woman, aged 22 to 60. Five of them arrived from high-risk places while the remaining one was from a medium-risk place.

The 22-year-old male patient is a close contact of seven previous imported cases and he tested positive at the Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre.

Among the other cases, three patients tested positive upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport and two were confirmed infected with the virus during quarantine.

Another case involved a 38-year-old male patient who lives at Tower 2, Florient Rise in Tai Kok Tsui. He received two doses of the BioNTech vaccine in June and September in Hong Kong.

The patient travelled to Doha, Qatar, on November 9 after testing negative for COVID-19 the day before. He arrived in HK on November 30 from Doha by flight QR818 and his specimen collected upon arrival tested positive for the virus.

A total of 48 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of which are imported.
