Milestone: HK people can apply for health code next Friday

The Hong Kong government held a press conference on Thursday (Dec. 2) afternoon to announce the details of the health code system, which will be open for public download and registration from 9:00 a.m. on December 10.

Secretary for Innovation and Technology Alfred Sit, Government Chief Information Officer Victor Lam, and Deputy Government Chief Information Officer Tony Wong, attended the conference.

Sit said that after two meetings with the Mainland, authorities have made good progress in the boundary reopening between the two places. The health code system will be open for public download and registration from 9:00 a.m. next Friday.

Wong said that citizens have to register with their name and residence address to apply for an account in the health code system, and they have to upload their whereabouts recorded in the "LeaveHomeSafe" app, so as to obtain the corresponding health code.
