Coronavirus | HK sees no local infection for 16th consecutive day
Hong Kong saw no local COVID-19 infection for the 16th consecutive day on Wednesday (June 23) as health authorities investigated two imported COVID-19 infections that brought the city's overall infection tally to 11,898.
The new two cases involved a 34-year-old woman flying in from Indonesia and a 49-year-old man whose overseas travel history has yet to be made clear, according to a statement issued by the Centre for Health Protection.
The woman, who was quarantined at Silka Seaview Hotel in Yau Ma Tei after arriving in Hong Kong, developed symptoms on Monday, the CHP said. The man remained asymptomatic.
As of Tuesday, nearly two million Hong Kong residents have received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. More than 1.3 million of them, or 19.2 percent of the eligible population, have been fully vaccinated, the government said.
