HK people can receive HK$5,000 electronic vouchers via four service providers: Financial chief
Hong Kong's Financial Secretary Paul Chan says in his weekly blog on Sunday (April 11) that the five-thousand electronic consumption vouchers scheme announced in the 2021-22 Budget is expected to be open for registration in summer.
Chan says people can receive the vouchers via one of four service providers, namely Alipay HK, Octopus, Tap & Go, and WeChat Pay HK.
Chan says that the government has yet to decide on other details, such as whether the sum will be paid in installments, and how long they will be valid for.
"In any case, the authorities will strive to maximize the efficacy of the measure while making the vouchers accessible to all when finalizing the details," he says.
As proposed in the 2021-22 Budget, the HK government will distribute electronic vouchers worth HK$5,000 to eligible permanent residents and new arrivals aged 18 or above to boost local consumption.
