Coronavirus | HK: Case tracing center starts operating today
A case-tracing center has been set up in a community hall in Kai Tak, Kowloon, which has started operation today (Jan. 11). Over 100 workers from HK government's disciplinary forces have been deployed to help with the tracing work, in order to carry out the tracing more professionally and quickly to cut off the virus transmission chain.
Many experts believe that one of the reasons for the recurrence of the epidemic is the lack of efficiency and organization in the tracking work before.
Chief Secretary for Administration Matthew Cheung Kin-chung said Sunday (Jan. 10), the SAR government has been actively using innovative technologies to support epidemic prevention. The whole process of tracing work can be done faster and with more accurate information through the electronic platform.
Under Secretary for Food and Health Chui Tak-yi also pointed out earlier that case-tracing is a vital means of preventing and combating the coronavirus. Chui said that with more manpower deployed for the tracking work, close contacts of confirmed patients could be tracked down more promptly, which largely reduces the risk of virus spread.
