CE: Policy Address aimed to lift HK out of impasse, lit faith in citizens
Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) delivers her fourth Policy Address at the Legislative Council today (Nov. 25). The primary objective of this Policy Address, as Lam stresses, is to look at ways to get Hong Kong out of the impasse and to restore citizens' confidence as soon as possible.
Lam says that in the past year or so, HK has experienced multiple shocks which are unprecedented: the social unrest and other anti-government actions, the shrinking economy and rising unemployment rate caused by COVID-19, and the actions that endangered national security due to interference by external forces. Lam points out that all these have seriously undermined the social stability of the HKSAR, impeded its economic development and tarnished its international image, and for which HK society has paid a high price. One of HK's urgent priorities is to restore the constitutional order and political system from chaos, says Lam.
