Dozens of fans streamed into the Hong Kong Disneyland on Friday (Sept. 25) as it reopened its doors after two months.

Anti-epidemic measures were in place at as it welcomed back visitors after more than two months, with a welcome band and some cheering staff, though its famous mascot Mickey mouse was conspicuous by its absence.

The relief and joy was evident on the face of visitors as well as staff and some Disney workers greeted each other with "air hugs" in line with the social distancing protocols.

There was the mandatory temperature screening at the entrance of the park which is operating with reduced capacity and guests are required to reserve their visit online beforehand.

Some staff also held signs inside the park to remind visitors to keep the required distance from each other.

The park also has introduced what it called “selfie spots” to allow guests to take photos with Disney characters, from a safe distance.

But the age-less attraction that the theme parks holds despite all this was evident as the crowds returned. An 80-year-old visitor said she had been waiting for the park to reopen.

She said she used to come everyday to walk around as she likes the environment here.

But a tiny tot who was coming to the park for the first time summed up the mood of most of the visitors: "I am very happy," said four-year-old Shelby. "Today I want to play."
