OMG | Amazing Sugar Painting in China
Sugar painting is a form of traditional Chinese folk art using hot, liquid sugar to create two-dimensional objects on a marble or metal surface. The painter uses sugar as a raw material for modeling, and a spoon and a shovel as the only tool.
The sugar is generally brown and white sugar with a little syrup on the stove with a warm fire boiling, boiling to the point that it can become stringy that can be used to cast the modeling. The painter will pour the sugar on the slate with a small spoon and then pour it back and forth quickly to draw the shape. When the shape is formed, the painter will use a small spatula to scrape up the sugar painting and glue it to a bamboo stick.
